Price War Driving Low Fuel Prices in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Murfreesboro is the place to be if your gas gauge is pushing into the red.

According to Gasbuddy.comregular unleaded was selling at a number of stations around town Friday morning at $2.96.

A few stations in Nashville and Lebanon are selling regular for $2.99. A gallon of gas is selling today for $3.15 in Franklin, $3.13 in Manchester, $3.09 in Dickson and $3.08 in Clarksville.

The Murfreesboro prices are now 19 cents below the state average and 41 cents below the national average.

Quint Qualls of our reporting partner Sidelines Newspaper quotes an executive at the Tennessee Fuel and Convenience Store Association saying that the low prices in Murfreesboro are the result of a price war between convenience stores.
