Tenn. Jobless Rate Down Dramatically

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Tennessee’s unemployment rate fell dramatically last month.

The Tennessee Department of Labor says the jobless rate fell to 7.6 percent in November, down six-tenths in a single month, and the lowest rate since October, 2008.

The state’s unemployment rate has also fallen below the national jobless rate for the first time in six months. Department of Labor spokesman Jeff Hentschel says the report is good news all around.

“The employment numbers did really well this month. We increased by 11,300, and we saw the unemployment numbers go down by more than 17,000. So both of those figures went in the right direction this month.”

Hentschel says Tennessee’s unemployment rate has decreased by 1.1 percent in the last year.
