MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- Murfreesboro Police responded Thursday night to a “shots fired” call at the University Gables Apartments on S. Rutherford Blvd.
Police say a resident of the complex reports a man came to her door at around 7:30 p.m. He began banging on the door, identified himself as a police officer, and demanded the door be opened.
When the apartment’s lone occupant couldn’t see anyone through the door’s peep hole, she retreated into a back room. She says at that point the person banging on the door fired a gun shot through the front door.
A neighbor verified the account, and noted that he was able to see the person banging on the door through a window. The witness described the subject as a black male, standing approximately 6 feet tall, with a thin build and wearing a gray tank top and camo pants.
After he fired a shot through the door, the neighbor says the man fled in a green, late 1990s model car.
