MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- West Africans living in the mid-state are being invited to a presentation concerning Ebola put on by the Tennessee Department of Health this evening.
The Tennessean reports the department is inviting people from Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and other West African countries to the informational meeting planned for this evening at 5 p.m. at the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance.
State Epidemiologist Dr. Tim Jones is scheduled to speak to the gathering.
Jones says the hope is that individuals who attend the meeting will then pass on what they learn about Ebola to family and friends in West Africa.
The Tennessean also reports that the international aid agency Project Cure, which has a warehouse in Nashville, is collecting protective gear for health-care workers to West Africa.
