RCSO responds to shooting, barricaded suspect
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A Rutherford County man is being treated for a gunshot wound and a second man is under arrest following what officials say was the violent end to what was likely a neighborhood feud.
WSMV-TV says Rutherford County Deputies responded Tuesday morning to Cedar Bucket Road on the Rutherford-Cannon County line following reports of a man being shot. The victim was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville by LifeFlight helicopter.
The man police say shot his neighbor barricaded himself in his home for a time. Nearby homes were evacuated while officers worked to get him to surrender.
Police were able to convince the man to come out peacefully by mid-morning. He was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
Sheriff Robert Arnold told reporters on the scene that it appears the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between neighbors.
The nature of that dispute, the names of the men involved and the condition of the man shot have not yet been released.
