MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who attempted to hold up a Murfreesboro store at knifepoint over the weekend.

A police incident report says a white male in late 20s to early 30s walked into the Dollar General Store on Mercy Blvd. Sunday morning. The clerk says he came to the counter and asked for cigarettes.

While she had her backed turned, she says the man pulled out a knife and demanded the money from the cash register. The clerk tells police she responded, “That’s not going to happen.” At that point the suspect fled the store.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is reportedly looking for the same suspect in connection with a similar incident at another Dollar General.

If you have information about this crime, or the individual shown in these surveillance photos, call Crime Stoppers at 615-893-STOP (7867).
