MTSU student reports being sexually assaulted by a fellow student

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A freshmen student at Middle Tennessee State University tells police she was sexually assaulted early Tuesday morning by a fellow student.

In a report filed earlier this week, the student says she was visiting a friend at an apartment on New Lascassas Pike Monday night. She says there were several people there and they watched movies until late.

The 18-year-old says she fell asleep on a coach with others sleeping on the floor nearby.

The student says she awoke in the early hours of Tuesday morning to find a man groping her. She identified her alleged assailant as an MTSU junior and a fellow member of the university band.

The student says she said nothing to her attacker, but did get up and asked the man to take her home. She filed a report with police later that day.

The case has been turned over to an MPD detective. There’s no word yet regarding any possible arrests in connection with the incident.
