MTSU: At least five months before Forrest Hall name change considered

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Middle Tennessee State President Sidney McPhee says the university is still working on its petition to change the controversial name of a campus building.

McPhee sent a letter Tuesday to the Tennessee Historical Commission saying he hopes to have the petition ready for the commission to consider in five months at its February meeting.

MTSU wants to change the name of Forrest Hall but has to have the state’s permission to do so. The hall is named for a KKK founding member and Confederate Civil War General Nathan Bedford Forrest.
