MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A former mid-state Uber driver will be in a Rutherford County courtroom Monday morning to face charges that he raped a passenger.
Officials say Antioch resident Emmett Lyons Jr. sexually assaulted an intoxicated 22-year-old Murfreesboro woman heading home from a party in March of 2016.
A friend of the passenger used an app to track the Uber car’s progress, noticed that it had gone off course, and went to check on the woman. She found her friend injured and frightened and took her to the hospital.
The trial gets underway at 9 a.m. with Judge David Bragg presiding.
