More pandemic aid: New food assistance program available for school free-lunch families

USDA

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  The State of Tennessee is now offering food aid for families normally eligible for federal free lunch programs during the school year.

It’s part of the coronavirus response legislation passed by Congress back in March.

Families can receive $5.70 per child per day for each qualifying child. The assistance will be provided through EBT cards.

Tennessee families already receiving federal SNAP benefits do not need to apply.

You can apply online here. If you need assistance filing your application, call 1-833-496-0661 and select option 3.
