New Tennessee average COVID-19 infections more than quadruple in a single month

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne )  --  Tennessee’s COVID-19 hospitalizations and new infection counts continue to spike higher.

The number of Tennesseans hospitalized for virus complications has nearly tripled in just 17 days.

COVID hospitalizations bottomed out on July 4 at 195 cases. As of Thursday, there are 546 Tennesseans being treated in hospitals statewide. A total of 191 are in Intensive Care Units, while 93 are on respirators.

Confirmed new infections hit a monthly high Wednesday with just over 1300 cases reported during the previous 24 hours.

The seven day running average of new infections has more than quadrupled in the past month.
