All The Thyme in the World Cookbook for Good
All the Thyme in the World is a cookbook curated by Nashville based IVPR's Maria Ivey. Just after the Nashville tornadoes and the news of COVID-19, Ivey says she found herself thinking of the ways by which we communicate and connect.
In the forward to All the Thyme in the World, Ivey writes, "Inspired by Alton Brown’s forward in the Southern Foodways Alliance Community Cookbook, which cited community cookbooks and the sharing of recipes, “polished and perfected... through years of practice” as “powerful medicine,” I went back to my roots. Growing up, my mother cooked no matter the circumstance—teaching without words that a loaf of banana bread eaten warm straight from the oven can celebrate and it can also console. While I was writing press releases for countless festival cancellations I was cooking nonstop. Three meals a day, sometimes four, crowding the fridge with leftovers and feeding the excess to the dog and chickens. Partly because staying home was the right thing to do and partly because I had to do what my bones told me to do."
"The idea for this cookbook came while I was sitting at the kitchen table, staring down the future wondering what the hell I would do with my hands and all of this time. I sent a few late night emails asking foodie music friends for recipes and help, which were then forwarded to other folks—some I knew, some I didn’t. Somehow, over the course of only 30 days, that single email and bottle of wine resulted in the over 275 recipes contained right here in this spiral bound cookbook," said Ivey."
The overwhelming response to those late night emails came from every corner of the Nashville music world. Artists Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Caleb Caudle, Aubrie Sellers, Radney Foster, Katie Pruitt, Pam Tillis, Tim O'Brien, Kelsey Waldon and Mike Farris join music journalists, publicists, musicians and managers filling the pages of the cookbook.
WMOT contributors include, Webb Wilder, artist and host of The List, Ana Lee, Local Brew and midday host and WMOT music journalist and host of The String, Craig Havighurst
