Sturgill Simpson Brings Music Back To The Ryman Tonight Online

The Ryman Auditorium breaks its three-month silence tonight with a special fund-raising performance by Kentucky songwriter Sturgill Simpson. The show, with the support of an all-star bluegrass band, will go live at 7 pm on Nugs.TV, Twitch and YouTube.

The chance to hear Simpson in acoustic throw-down mode is novel and exciting. He's joined by mandolinist Sierra Hull, fiddler Stuart Duncan, guitarist Mark Howard, banjo player Scott Vestal, bass player Mike Bub and drummer Miles Miller, who is part of Simpson's regular band and production team. Rolling Stone reports that just recently, Simpson and those musicians took to the studio to record his “entire back catalog of songs…the way they were written and meant to be played…ruff, rugged, n’ raw.”
