NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Nashville Interim Police Chief John Drake has already made changes to the department’s warrant approval process following Tuesday’s botched raid of an innocent Edgehill family’s home.
MNPD officers battered down the family’s front door looking for a teen suspect. They later learned the juvenile hadn’t lived at that address for nearly two years.
Speaking to reporters Thursday, Chief Drake says search warrant approval will now be handled at the Deputy Chief level, two ranks higher than the old process.
He also says officers will be retrained on proper procedure.
Drake on Wednesday decommissioned three officers while investigation of the incident continues.
