Feds waive academic testing for Tenn. children now sheltering at home

USDA

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Tennessee children forced out of school by the coronavirus pandemic will not be required to take the usual end-of-year standardized tests.

Earlier this week the state Department of Education received a waiver from the federal government eliminating “statewide assessment, accountability, and reporting requirements in ...Elementary and Secondary Education” for the current school year.

Tennessee received a second waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture making it easier to innovate feeding programs for children who normally receive free meals at school.
