NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) — COVID-19 continues to close schools across Middle Tennessee, and it’s not always new student infections creating the problem.
Williamson County School Board member Eric Welch reported Tuesday that Centennial High will switch to remote learning, specifically because a large number of staff members are in quarantine or isolation.
The county reports a total of 127 staff members are currently out thanks to the virus.
Tennessee’s largest teachers union reports teacher shortages are becoming a problem statewide, especially in rural districts.
Amanda Cheney with the Tennessee Education Association told WMOT this week that “as virus numbers continue to rise in their communities, schools are struggling to keep buildings fully staffed.”
