MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Middle Tennessee led 21-3 in the second quarter, but then fell short in Miami and will have to wait another week to become bowl eligible.

The Blue Raiders lost to FIU Saturday 38-28 at Alfonso Field after a come-from-behind win by the Panthers.

Middle led 21-3 early in the second quarter, but went into halftime up 21-17. Later, the Panthers took their first lead after scoring 28 unanswered points to gain a 31-21 lead in the third quarter.

FIU scored 21 points off five turnovers resulting in a season-high 38 points.

Ed Batties, who caught eight passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns, sparked the Middle Tennessee offense in the first half.

MT now returns home for its final home game against Florida Atlantic with a kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. As always, you can hear the game right here on WMOT.
