WMOT’s Fall Member Drive is happening now through October 24 and in this challenging time of separation and distancing, some things still have the power to bring order back to the world... to weave pieces of our days back together... to offer a refuge from the stress that comes from being buffeted by the great storm of events.

The awesome music on WMOT is one of these wonderful, invaluable things. At the drop of a note, it offers us heart and soul, inspiration and introspection, passion and joy.

Whether it’s the expansive range of The Mavericks, the rich songbook of local favorite, John Prine, the incredible harmonies of The Highwomen, the storytelling of Sarah Jarosz, or the electric power of local duo, The War and Treaty, the power of WMOT’s music carries us away and grounds us all at once.

One of the many lessons of 2020 has been the critical importance of access to sources of vitality and inspiration, of diversions that strengthen our spirits, of reinvigorating pleasures.

It’s something everyone needs, and for those of us who have discovered the boundless rewards of creative, independent music, its passion and authenticity reaches down to the deepest part of who we are and offers us an invaluable restorative power.

It’s why the hand-picked and heartfelt playlists on WMOT—offered freely to everyone in Middle Tennessee—have never been more important than in this tumultuous year.

But here’s a secret: A very powerful force—and a powerful truthlies behind the irreplaceable public service that WMOT provides around the clock every day.

You know this force well: It’s YOU! The truth is that WMOT has the strong resources to serve you well only through the power of your membership.

With very challenging times clearly still ahead of us, there’s never been a more impactful time for you to support WMOT and the vital power of music.

With gratitude and appreciation,

Val Hoeppner

Executive Director

P.S.   Throughout the week your donations will be matched to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and will help the 1 in 8 Middle Tennesseans facing food insecurity this fall. On October 22, it’s #MakeADogsDay and Subaru will donate $50 to Bonaparte’s Retreat for each contribution made to WMOT. October 20 is Wired In with Brennen Leigh. And, Jessie Scott and Val Hoeppner will be live on the air October 21 and 22, with Katie Morris and Mary Ollie Newman answering phones.
