MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- Hundreds of young people from more than 50 Tennessee counties are in the Mid-State this week to show their animals at the 4-H Junior Livestock Exposition.
The competition is being held at the Tennessee Livestock Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University through Thursday.
Houston Herbert is showing two steers and a heifer in the event. Herbert attends Page High in Williamson County. He says show day is the easiest part of the experience.
“You have to wash them every day and take care of them. Its one of those things that’s 365 days a year whether you like it or not.”
Show Official David Kirkpatrick says participants learn more than just animal husbandry. He says the program’s real purpose is to help young people develop into “responsible young men and women.”
