MURFREESBORO, Tenn (WMOT) -- Middle Tennessee is in the grip of another cold snap.
After a high Sunday in the low 70s, Murfreesboro hit 28 degrees Monday morning and the mid-state will get even colder Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meteorologist Trevor Boucher (Boo-SHAY) with the Nashville Office of the National Weather Service says yet another another arctic blast is pushing into the region.
“Wednesday will be the coldest day as the temperatures are supposed to rise into the upper 20s in the north and the mid-30s in the southern parts of the state.”
Boucher says there’s a slight chance Middle Tennessee could see a rain-sleet mix Tuesday night followed by snow.
“As of right now we’re going with accumulations that are very slim to none. The only places that we’re thinking that we’ll see anything measurable would probably be the extreme south or the extreme northeast.”
Boucher says that in spite of the unusual number of cold snaps the mid-state has seen this winter, Middle Tennessee has received just under 1.5 inches of snowfall. Just over four inches is the average.
The good news is that this cold snap won’t last long. The mid-state will be back in the 40s by Thursday.
