Murf Man Shot in the Back During Attempted Home Invasion

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  -- A Murfreesboro man was shot in the back early Sunday morning in what he described as a failed home invasion attempt.

Murfreesboro Police say they were called to a Leaf Avenue address just before three a.m. Sunday morning. When officers arrived they found 24 year old Tresdon Forrest Stephens with a gunshot wound in the back.

He was transported by life-flight helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center. There’s no word yet today on his condition.

A police report on the incident says Stephens told officers that two individuals tried to force their way into his home. He says both were wearing dark clothing and masks.

Stephens said we was able to keep the intruders from entering the home, but they were able to get off two shots, one of which struck him in the back.

The case has been turned over to MPD detectives for further investigation.
