MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A new report suggests Tennessee isn’t an especially “happy” place to be.
The online personal finance website wallethub.com analyzed data from the annual Gallup-Healthways poll to rank the most and least happy states in America.
Factors considered were emotional and physical well-being, work life, community, environment, and the availability of recreational opportunities.
Tennessee ranked a dismal 46th on the list, just ahead of Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama.
Jill Gonzalez is a wallethub spokesperson.
“The work category really brought Tennessee down. It scored 48th in that. It was one of the worst states for job security, and then it ranked kind of mid-level for income level, work hours, and long term unemployment rates.”
Gonzalez says the most alarming statistic is that Tennessee is the third most dangerous state to live in.
She does note however that Tennesseans are happy about the number of recreational opportunities and attractions.
