Charges against 2 dropped in Bobo case

DECATURVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The state has dropped some charges against two defendants in the case involving the kidnapping and killing of a 20-year-old nursing student in West Tennessee.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday that one of the men, 26-year-old John Dylan Adams, was charged with two counts of raping Holly Bobo. The district attorney general's office said Wednesday the dropped charges don't include the rape counts against Adams.

Adams and the other man whose charges were dropped, Mark Lynn Pearcy, had been charged with tampering with evidence, and Pearcy also was charged with accessory after the fact.

The prosecutor's office said in a news release that it couldn't discuss the reasons for the dismissals since the investigation is continuing.

The release said Pearcy has pending federal firearms charges.
