MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A Murfreesboro man was shot twice during a weekend robbery and police have arrested a local man in connection with the case.

Just after midnight Sunday morning police were called to the Thorntons gas station at 927 Old Fort Parkway. Officers found 29 year-old Victor R. Evans in front of the station, bleeding from gunshot wounds to the leg and chest.

While officers rendered first aid, Evans was able to tell them that he and his girlfriend had been robbed by a black male wearing a gray hoodie. Evans was flown by life flight helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center. There’s no word yet today on his condition.

Police were able to develop a suspect from store surveillance video. They staked out a Bridge Avenue home and took the suspect into custody less than three hours after the shooting.

Police have arrested 27 year-old Trandrius Devonne Womack in connection with the shooting. He’s been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery, and weapons charges.

Womack is being held on $127,000 bond. He’s set to appear in General Sessions Court late in November.
