Smyrna business padlocked following prostitution raids
SMYRNA, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A Rutherford County massage parlor was padlocked earlier this week in a statewide investigation into prostitution and human trafficking.
Royal Therapy at 557 S. Lowry Street in Smyrna was one of two massage parlors padlock on the orders of a judge. The Rainbow Spa in Sparta was also padlocked and police say charges will likely be filed against individuals working at both locations.
Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation partnered with local law enforcement offices to carry out the raids.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of 46 year-old Huichu Sandve on a charge of prostitution. She was taken into custody at C&K Spa in Crossville.
Interstate Spa in Rockwood, Tennessee was also searched. Two individuals there were questioned about prostitution and performing massages without a license.
C&K Spa, Interstate Spa and Rainbow Spa, were the targets of similar raids last year that resulted in a number of business closures and arrests for prostitution.
