Brrr! Deep cold arrives in the mid-state Wednesday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Get ready for significantly colder weather. Tennessee is about to get dropped into the deep freeze.

Tomorrow will be the warmest day this week with temperatures barely reaching the 40s.

Tomorrow night the weather service says a cold front pushes through, bringing with it the coldest temperatures we’ve seen since last January.

The mid-state will drop below freezing tomorrow night and we won’t get back above freezing before the weekend.

Nashville Weather Service Office meteorologist Josh Barnwell says we’ll be in single digits by Thursday morning.

Barnwell says there’s a slight chance of snow Wednesday morning, and we could see some kind of frozen precipitation again Sunday.

“It’s still to far out to decide what kind of precipitation it will be, but it looks like it could be snow, or possibly sleet or freezing rain or even a rain mix in there. We’ll keep an eye on that and see what that has in store for us as we get closer.”

Barnwell says we’ll see some strong winds on Wednesday and Wednesday night, which means we could see some wind chill numbers below zero.
