MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- If you have a chainsaw or a hammer and some spare time, you might consider lending a hand up on the storm-damaged Cumberland Plateau.
Cumberland, Fentress, and Overton Counties were among the areas hardest hit by the ice and snow that pummeled the mid-state over the past few weeks.
Cookeville’s Stonecom Radio News Director Rafferty Cleary says that in Cumberland County the damage amounts to more than downed trees and power lines.
“It’s not so much that -- I mean obviously a lot of trees down, but the majority of their power outages were actually that the electric wall got ripped off of their home, and so until those can get repaired it’s really hard to get power restored there.”
Cleary says the station keeps an up-to-date list of agencies looking for volunteers.
