UPDATE: Murf. man reports being threatened by extremist group

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A Murfreesboro man says his life has been threatened by an Islamic extremist group.

Murfreesboro Police responded Saturday night to the home of 41-year-old Khaled A. Eldarassi. He told police that he had received a death threat from the unnamed group by way of Facebook.

Eldarassi told officers that he’s a journalist, originally from the country of Lebanon. He says the group was angered by a video he made about religion and threatened him with beheading.

Eldarassi went on to tell police that a friend had been shot dead by this same group one year ago after receiving a similar threat via Facebook.

The incident report notes that Murfreesboro Police are maintaining a “special watch” on Mr. Eldarassi’s home and that MPD detectives for investigation.

A spokesperson for The Tennessee Office of Homeland Security says the state is also investigating.
