Murf. sees 3 armed assaults in 7 hours

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  More than a dozen simple and aggravated assaults made for a busy weekend for Murfreesboro Police.  Friday afternoon and evening were especially busy.

Friday afternoon the MPD arrested 49-year-old Williams D. Verge on two counts of Aggravated Assault. Police say Verge showed up at the Rutherford Woodlands apartments on North Rutherford Blvd. and shot at two of the residents living there. Verge was reportedly upset about an incident involving his daughter.

A couple of hours later 21-year-old Nigel Woodward called police to say he’d been robbed at gunpoint of nearly $1600 worth of shoes he was trying to sell out of the trunk of his car on Chelanie Circle.

Just after dark 19-year-old Kiontae Caldwell told police that he had been shot at while at the Pointe at Raiders Campus Apartments. No further details were provided on that incident.

William Verge was booked into the Rutherford County Jail on a $12,500 bond. He’s set to appear in General Sessions Court in early September.
