Rash of domestic violence calls, arrests keep Murf police busy

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A string of domestic disturbance calls kept Murfreesboro Police hoping this past weekend.

The MPD reports it responded to 18 domestic calls in just three days. Seven of those calls resulted in arrests.

Among those taken into custody was Greenland Drive resident Tiffany Thomas.  Thomas and her partner got into an argument Sunday evening. A police incident report says Thomas assaulted her boyfriend, vandalized their home, and also fought with police when they tried to restrain her.

Police say officers had to subdue Thomas twice to get her in handcuffs and in a cruiser. She’s facing charges of resisting arrest, domestic assault and vandalism.

Twenty-three-year-old Tiffany Thomas was booked into the Rutherford County jail on $9500 bond. She’ll appear in General Sessions Court in late September.

Murfreesboro Police handled more than 2300 cases of domestic violence last year, including 16 cases of abduction, 2 cases of rape, and 2 cases of murder.
