MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Murfreesboro over the weekend.
Police say Austin Sienk was killed Sunday morning on the railroad tracks near the intersection of South Church Street and Seals Way.
The CSX train engineer and conductor tell police that the man appeared to be wearing headphones and failed to respond to repeated blasts from the train’s horn or the sound of the breaks.
Kaitlyn Barrett with CSX says the train was headed to Jacksonville from Louisville, and was carrying 72 cars of mixed freight.
Sienk was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed. Police say the victim’s next of kin have been notified.
