MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — The release of the Tennessee state report card reveals a spike in graduation rates and academic progress at Rutherford County schools.

The Daily News Journal reports (http://on.dnj.com/1GCuQqQ ) the district received the highest-possible score for its value-added academic progress. The schools of Rutherford County also saw a record high school graduation rate of 93.9 percent in 2015, the newspaper reports.

The report card also reveals there is room for improvement in some areas. This past year, the school system scored the lowest-possible figures in literacy and numeracy. Additionally, the school system did not meet most state standards when working to improve the gaps between all students and students who are minorities, disabled or economically disadvantaged.
