MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- The mid-state will see its first significant accumulation of snow and ice just in time for the Wednesday morning commute.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Middle Tennessee beginning just before daybreak. Weather Service meteorologist Bobby Boyd says we could see some significant accumulations.
“Looks like we could be getting 1 to 3 inches of snow; a little bit of ice accumulation Interstate (40) northward into Kentucky. We could get a tenth of a inch of ice up that way.”
Boyd says we can expect another round of winter precipitation on Friday when there could be another significant accumulation of snow.
According to Boyd, an El Nino weather pattern has kept the mid-state unusually warm so far this winter, but he says the Polar Jet is beginning to penetrate further south brining colder weather to the region.
