MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Police have arrested an Uber driver on four counts of rape, alleging that he assaulted a 22-year-old Murfreesboro woman.

Antioch resident Emmett N. Lyons. Jr., 42, was arrested Friday morning after the March Rutherford County Grand Jury indicted him on two counts of aggravated rape and two counts of rape.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred last fall. In the police report a woman says she was at a party with a 22-year-old female friend on Halloween. The  friend became intoxicated and the woman arranged for an Uber driver to take her home.

The woman says she used an app to track the Uber driver and noticed that he’d gone off course, so she left the party to check on her friend. The woman says when she arrived at the friend’s home she found her injured and scared and took her to the ER.

Police say they interviewed the victim, several witnesses and Mr. Lyons before presenting the case to the case to the Grand Jury

Emmett Lyons Jr. was booked into the Rutherford County Jail on a $100,000 bond and will appear in General Sessions Court Tuesday morning.
