MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A Mississippi man is facing a charge of aggravated rape after Murfreesboro Police say he sexually assaulted and beat a woman this past week.
Clarksdale, Mississippi, resident Darius O. Rushing was arrested Thursday afternoon after police tracked him down to an apartment in The Pointe at Raider’s Campus complex.
The victim is being treated for a broken eye socket, broken nose, cuts and contusions. Police say she also had two blackened eyes and there were finger marks on her neck.
Police interviewed the victim in the St. Thomas Rutherford ER. She told them she was walking along Memorial Blvd. when Rushing stopped and offered her a ride.
Once she was in the car the woman says Rushing raped her in the parking lot of the U-Haul store at the corner of Memorial and E. Clark. She says he beat her severely when she resisted.
Twenty-two-year-old Darius Rushing was booked into the Rutherford County Jail on a $75,000 bond. He’ll make an initial appearance in Rutherford County General Sessions Court on September 15.
