NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Two Tennesseans died at the hands of police on Tuesday.
Nashville Police say Officer Wesley McClelland shot and killed Robertson County robbery suspect Sandy Joe Duke Tuesday afternoon. Police say Duke initially tried to flee, but then turned toward officers with a gun in hand.
Thirty-five year old Jackson resident Charles Dove also died during a confrontation with police Tuesday. Dove reportedly tried to flee in his car but crashed. He was shot and killed moments later .
Police say they found a gun on Dove, but it isn’t clear if he actually fired at police.
