NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT) -- The Tennessee lawmaker who sponsored a bill allowing therapists to refuse treatment to patients for any reason is proposing another controversial measure.
The bill by State Senator Jack Johnson, signed into law earlier this year, is widely seen as anti-gay.
The American Counseling Association Code of Ethics prohibits counselors from turning clients away.
WSMV-TV quotes Johnson saying the Association has an agenda that isn’t consistent with Tennessee values. So the Franklin Republican has introduced a bill that would require the state to develop its own counseling code of ethics.
