MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  MTSU Police have released the details about that armed robbery that took place on campus Friday.

Murfreesboro resident Desmond J. Howard tells police he was visiting a friend at the Scarlett Commons apartments when he was robbed by two men.  Howard tells police the men cornered him on the stairs and threatened him with a handgun. The 19-year-old says he lost an I-phone, cash, and a book bag.

Howard describes the first of his assailants as a light-skinned black man standing 5’11” and weighing 240 lbs. He was wearing a gray jacket, beanie hat, and has several tattoos on his face. The second assailant is described as a black male standing 5’8” and wearing a red hoodie.

This is the second armed assault on the MTSU campus in less than a month. On September 12, a pair of female students reported an attempted armed robbery. The women told police the attempt was interrupted when a large group of students happened by and scared their assailants away.

If you have information about either incident, call campus police at 615-898-2424.
