Tennessee jobless rate hits 20 year low

Tenn. Dept. of Labor

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The Tennessee Department of Labor says all fourteen counties in the Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area now enjoy well under 4 percent unemployment.

Williamson County continues to have the lowest jobless numbers, standing at 2 percent for the month of May. Davidson County just a tenth higher at 2.1 percent.

The statewide rate currently stands at 4 percent. That’s the lowest jobless count Tennessee has seen in 20 years.

For the first time in nearly a year the state unemployment rate has fallen below the national average.
