TENNESSEE 2020: ACLU Tennessee troubled by lawmaker's "slate of hate."

aclu.org

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- WMOT continues to explore the legislative priorities of constituencies from across the political spectrum as the State Assembly begins its third week in session.

Next we hear from the American Civil Liberties Union. Tennessee chapter Director Hedy Weinberg says the session will be both challenging and exciting.

“Very concerned, very troubled by the slate of hate which is targeting the LGBTQ community, our friends in the immigrant and refugee communities, challenging women’s right to access reproductive healthcare.”

Weinberg says she’s excited about Gov. Bill Lee’s push for criminal justice reform. The ACLU hopes the restoration of voting rights for felons is among the reforms offered.
