MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- A mid-state media expert warns that critical information about the coronavirus pandemic is going unheard amid the noise of today’s heated political rhetoric.

Dr. Larry Burris teaches journalism and media law at Middle Tennessee State University. Dr. Burris suggests it’s time to tune out the politics.

“If I was trying to figure out what to do I would not listen to the politicians. I would go to a reputable website, because the politicians on both sides unfortunately are spinning this crisis to their own benefit.”

Dr. Burris suggests you conduct your own research about the virus by consulting reputable sources, including your personal physician, top health agencies such as the Centers for Disease Controland the World Health Organization, along with nationally-known research hospitals, including Johns-Hopkins Medical Center, the Mayo Clinic, and Middle Tennessee’s Vanderbilt School of Medicine.
