Tenn. Sen. Alexander will chair, Dr. Fauci will testify before Senate hearing - from self-quarantine

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP/WMOT) -- Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander will chair a Congressional hearing Tuesday featuring White House Coronavirus Task Force leading-light Dr. Anthony Fauci, but both men will appear by video link from home.

Fauci and Alexander were both exposed to coronavirus by staff members last week and both are in self-quarantine as a result.

The Associated Press says the hearing will discuss how best to reopen the nation’s economy even as the pandemic continues.

The Senate hearing could produce some political fireworks. Alexander and Fauci have both shown a willingness to part with White House coronavirus messaging during the pandemic.

Senator’s Alexander’s office notes that the 79-year-old lawmaker tested negative for coronavirus late last week after learning he’d been in close contact with a virus positive staff member.
