NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  A Tennessee lawmaker is among those scheduled to speak Tuesday evening during the Democratic National Convention.

State Senator Raumesh Akbari (ruh-MESH ack-BERRY) will speak at some point between 8 and 10 p.m.

WREG in Memphis notes that Akbari also spoke at the 2016 convention. This year the Memphis Democrat will deliver her speech remotely from her living room.

Akbari was elected to the Tennessee House in 2013 and the State Senate in 2018. She is one of only five Democrats and eight women in the 33 member upper chamber.

Senator Akbari is a past chair and current treasurer of the Democratic Black Caucus of State Legislators.
