Hundreds of millions more pandemic aid dollars earmarked for Nashville

Twitter Mendes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  A clearer picture has emerged concerning just how much additional aid Nashville can expect from the pandemic relief package passed by Congress March 10.

Congressman Jim Cooper on Wednesday presented the latest aid numbers to members of the Metro Council. Councilman Bob Mendes shared some of those figures in a series of Twitter posts.

Mendes relays that Metro can expect $267 million in additional federal assistance. Metro Schools will get an additional $303 million in aid.

Mendes says it isn’t clear yet if those amounts are to be used over one year or two.

He says it is clear that the funding cannot be used to underwrite the city’s regular budget.
