Investigators complain 'speculation and rumor' slowing search for missing Tennessee child

Hawkins Cnty Sheriff

(Mike Osborne) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said this week that “speculation and rumors” have slowed its efforts to find Amber Alert child Summer Wells.

In a series of social media posts, TBI says they’ve received more than 700 tips about the missing five-year-old girl since she disappeared on June 15. The agency says that, so far, those tips haven’t resulted in a single viable lead.

TBI is urging the public to, their words, “share info from credible sources.” The agency goes on say “Sharing speculation or rumors only makes the process more difficult.”

Anyone who does have a credible tip to share can call it in to 1-800-TBI-FIND.
