NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Gov. Bill Lee will travel to Texas over the weekend to visit with Tennessee National Guard troops sent to help secure the southern border with Mexico.
Lee says he deployed 300 guardsmen to the border with the goal of “quelling the most severe border crisis we’ve seen in 20 years.”
Troops currently at the border include a Military Police company out of Murfreesboro, and engineering company out of Jackson, along with an aviation battalion.
Gov. Lee will be accompanied by the commander of the Tennessee Guard, Adjutant General Jeff Holmes.
