TBI: Nearly 900 tips, no new developments reported in Summer Wells disappearance

Hawkins Cnty Sheriff

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has received nearly 900 tips regarding the disappearance of Hawkins County child Summer Wells, but investigators have not reported any new developments in the case.

An Amber Alert was issued for the 5-year-old East Tennessee girl on June 16. Mass searches were conducted in the area around her home for about two weeks, but those searches were scaled back ten days ago.

In a press statement released Thursday, TBI asked property owners in the Beech Creek area who use trail cameras to contact investigators. The agency wants to review the captured footage, saying “The smallest detail could prove beneficial to the investigation.”
