MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has released his schools reopening plan, saying in-person classes are the “preferred option.”
Calling COVID-19 cases in schools inevitable, Gov. Lee says virus positive students will be quickly isolated for ten days. Close contacts will be quarantined for two weeks.
Individual school systems will decide how much information about virus outbreaks they choose to share with parents and their communities.
Lee promised millions of dollars for student personal computers. He also promised a year’s supply of masks, wipes and hand sanitizer for every teacher in the state.
When asked if teachers who fear returning to the classroom will be required to do so, Lee said the “expectation is” that they will show up for work.
