NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP/WMOT) -- Gov. Bil Lee will call the State Legislature into special session in late summer to replace House Speaker Glenn Casada.

Casada has been dogged by scandal in recent months, including revelations that he exchanged sexually explicit emails about women with a top aide.

Gov. Lee says he expects the special session will occur in August but he hasn’t picked an exact date yet.

After a vote of no confidence by his Republican caucus, Casada announced he would resign the speakership effective Aug. 2

Casada insists he will not resign his seat as a Williamson County Representative.
