Murf. police attempt to rescue shooting victim from a burning car

MPD

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  Murfreesboro Police asked on Tuesday for the public’s help as they search for suspects in a shooting that left a woman dead and her car on fire.

Officials say officers were called to a home on Leaf Ave. late Monday night. They found a car on fire in the home’s backyard with a woman trapped inside.

Officers tried to pull the woman from the vehicle, but the fire’s heat was too intense.

After firefighters doused the flames, investigators discovered the woman had been shot several times. She was pronounced dead soon after.

The woman's identity has not yet been determined.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to please contact Detective Julia Cox at 629-201-5514 or email tips to crimetips@murfreesborotn.gov.
